The Armorpact system allows for dramatically increased load-carrying capacity in very soft clays/silts or organic soils.

Geopier Rammed Aggregate Pier® System (RAP) Armorpact® System

The Geopier Armorpact system is a cost-effective solution for supporting structures in soft clay or organic soils.  The system utilizes a high-density polyethylene confining shell and vertical impact ramming to construct high-capacity Rammed Aggregate Pier elements for superior settlement control.  Construction begins when the Armorpact sleeve is positioned on the specially designed tapered mandrel and is driven deep into the ground using crowd force and high-energy, vertical ramming. Once the design depth has been reached, the confining shell remains in place, and lifts of aggregate are delivered through the hollow mandrel into the shell. Compaction then occurs when downward force and dynamic vertical ramming energy from the mandrel densify the aggregate vertically and drive it laterally into the shell walls. The Armorpact system allows for dramatically increased load-carrying capacity in very soft clays/silts or organic soils.

How Does GeoSolv Do More with Geopier (RAP) than Other Ground-Improvement Techniques?

RAP vs. Stone Column

GeoSolv’s Ground Improvement Systems involve heavy vertical crowd force, massive vertical ramming energy, and significant lateral stress increase. This action, along with the vertical ramming and heavy crowd pressure with lateral cavity expansion with lateral stress buildup is unique to GeoSolv, and creates unsurpassed system performance. These three factors are essential as they result in a more highly engineered system with improved performance over other ground-improvement approaches. GeoSolv can work with the worst soils: soft clay, loose silt, peat, and uncontrolled fill−not just sandy soils.

GeoSolv offers Ground Improvement Solutions that treat a wider range of soils and offer distinct advantages over other historic ground-improvement systems such as deep dynamic compaction (dynamic compaction), stone columns (vibro replacement, vibro stone columns), vibro compaction (vibro flot) and deep soil mixing (DSM). Installation Methodology:

The Geopier Armorpact system is constructed by driving a tapered and hollow, valved mandrel into the existing soils through heavy crowd force and vertical impact energy. The mandrel is fitted with a confining HDPE sleeve prior to driving. Aggregate (clear stone or clean sand) is placed within the mandrel and flows into confining sleeve as the mandrel is retracted. The mandrel is then driven back down, creating a compacted lift. This action creates stiff and confined rammed aggregate pier elements and results in superior bearing capacity and settlement control in peat or very soft/loose soils.

Improve up to 10m depths with 200-600mm diameter confined elements in very soft clays/silts, deep peat, poor fills and organics. The Armorpact system can be installed in high groundwater conditions.
